The Knights of Columbus was founded by the Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney (pictured above) in New Haven, Connecticut (USA) on February 6th, 1882, when he and a small group of pioneering Catholics created a society designed to provide much needed security for widows and orphans of Catholic parishioners. The original idea grew quickly, becoming an order of Catholic men and their families, dedicated to promoting the core principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Presently, the Knights of Columbus are more than a million and a half members strong in over 12,500 local councils.
Since its infancy, the Knights of Columbus has become a diverse organization. Its members spanning across many races and speaking many languages. These differences however, strengthen the Order as a whole through their diversity. This is an asset in searching for ways to make the Knights of Columbus organization better every day and it all happens thanks to the work of dedicated brother Knights, where ever they may be.
Family is the most important aspect in the Knights of Columbus. All Knights of Columbus programs allow families to work together, involving everyone to aid their Church, their community and one another. Knights help the Church. Making sure the Catholic Church remains vigorous and undiminished is one of the primary missions of the Knights of Columbus.

The Knights of Columbus’ Supreme Council is located in New Haven, Connecticut and is managed by a board of directors, lead by its current Supreme Knight, Patrick E. Kelly (pictured above) who is the Order’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board.

About Moncton Council 1310
Our Council was founded as Moncton Council 1310 on May 14th 1908 as is reflect in our Council Charter, pictured below, issued by the Supreme Council.

We have been actively growing in terms of members and activities over the last century and are presently the 3rd oldest Council in the province of New Brunswick, as well as the 2nd largest Council in the province of New Brunswick. We proudly serve St Bernard’s Church, located in Moncton.
Our first Council hall (pictured above left) was located at the corner of Queen & Robinson Street in Moncton, however, it was lost to a fire in 1973. Out of the ashes, our members came together and helped establish our Council in its new and current home (pictured above right) located at 84 Broadway Street.
At 1310, like all Councils and the Knights of Columbus organization as a whole, Knights are dedicated to feeding the hungry and helping to shelter the homeless. We strive to help our community through many charitable acts and functions to aid in the funding of those acts. Our works include many partnerships which move across many social lines.
