Joanne Bourque

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Joanne E. Bourque at the age of 65. Joanne passed away peacefully at the Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, on Sunday October 5th.

Born in Moncton, NB, on August 5th, 1960, she was the daughter of Clifford Lirette and the late Andréa (Hébert) Lirette.

Joanne will be sadly missed by her father, Clifford (Jeannette LeBlanc); her sons: Julien and Remi (Ayleen); her beloved grandchildren: Emry and Grayson; her sister, Annette (Marc) LeBlanc and brother, Maurice (Tracey) Lirette; her estranged husband, Louis Bourque; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Joanne was a kind hearted soul and loved spending time with her family and friends whether it was to play cards, bingo, Mexican Train or shopping. She was a great fan of baseball, loved her Blue Jays and thoroughly enjoyed watching her sons bowl or play baseball. She loved being with people. Even after suffering a massive stroke in January 2018, which robbed her of her ability to speak, she would find a way to communicate with others. Joanne was always game to go on an adventure even if it was just a drive to NS or PE. She especially loved going to visit cousins in North Carolina.

Besides her mother in 2021, Joanne was predeceased by her nephew, Jacques A. LeBlanc in July 2013.

Visitation will be held at Passage, 625 Mountain Road, Moncton, NB, (506) 855-1145, on Thursday, October 9th, from 9 am to 10:45 am, followed by the funeral in the chapel at 11 am.

Burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.

Dorine Arsenault

195617

Dorine Arsenault, 87, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday February 4, 2022 following a brief battle with cancer.  Born in Gayton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ozem and Lina (LeBlanc) Boudreau.

She was an active member of the Knights of Columbus 1310 Ladies Auxiliary and, over the years, she served as Treasurer, as Vice-President and also held two terms as President.  She was awarded “Member of the Year” and received the “Ladies Auxiliary Appreciation Award”.  Dorine, a woman of strong faith, was a member of the Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Parish and was also employed at the Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix presbytery from the early 1970’s through to the 1990’s.

A romantic at heart, Dorine enjoyed a continued supply of romance books (reading at least one book per week), watched Hallmark movies, and, although her favorite singers were many, she had a sweet spot for “The Tenors”.   Her personal romance story began when her husband, Raoul Arsenault, first saw her at a distance on a bus and told his friend that he would marry that girl in the white beret one day – it must have been her smile.  Dorine’s aunt, Yvonne, and Raoul’s mother, Celina, were friends and may have somehow helped to arrange for this young couple to meet; however, it was Dorine who proposed their marriage back in 1954!  This romance story with Raoul lasted for over 56 years – and the love continues in this, the closing chapter, as she has joined him once again!  Dorine certainly had a zest for life and lived hers always with a beautiful smile and a kind heart.  She was quick to agree to try new things from cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing, hula hooping, bowling, pétanque, washer toss, etc. – even if a few of these were tried only the once.  You could ask her to go to the movies at the very last minute, and she would be ready in minutes.  Dorine was consistently a good sport!  During her final weeks and days, she dressed up for family photos, wore fun Christmas hats and more!  Dorine’s greatest gift to her family other than love was her expressions of “gratitude“.  She would very often tell her children, friends and relatives “I thank God every day for the blessing of good children” and followed that by saying “I’m so spoiled”.  She wasn’t spoiled – she was just so easy to be with, no matter if you were a young child, one of her adult children, her friend or a relative.  She was loved by all that knew her and there was never a doubt that this woman loved you!

Dorine is survived by her five children: Paul (Ida) of Moncton, Terrance (Sylvia) of Charlottetown, PEI, Louise (Ken Killam) of Berry Mills, Guy (Bernadette) of Eastern Passage, NS, and Nicole (Troy) Myers of Riverview; sisters: Huberte (Edouard Haché) Boucher of Dieppe, and Rose-Marie (Bill) Hall of Moncton; brothers: Gérald (Dorine) Boudreau of Fredericton, and Norman Boudreau of Moncton; six grandchildren: Patricia, Christine, Ashley, Emily, Wesley, and Jennifer; two sisters-in-law: Corine Boudreau of Shediac and Rose-Marie Boudreau of Saint John; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raoul (2011); her two brothers: Francis Boudreau and Paul-Eugène Boudreau.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 3 pm. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 1:30 pm until time of funeral. Face covering is mandatory, proof of vaccination and government issued identification card are required to enter the funeral centre, and social distancing is in effect. The funeral service will be streamed live; to view the funeral, go to her obituary on our Website. Interment will be in the Frenette Columbarium, Moncton. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Dorine, donations can be made to your charity of choice.
