Grand Knight’s Message

From time to time, both on important calendar dates and important dates within the Knights of Columbus, our Grand Knight will offer a message of a thought for that day. It will be our pleasure to make that message available in this section.

Having completed our journey through Advent, we now celebrate the joy of the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ! This day, for many, is about the birth of a baby in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago, but it’s more than that.

Of course, that is the principle event that we are celebrating on December 25th, but it goes well beyond that. It means that no one has to be perfect and that God is always with us regardless of any conditions. It is also a sign that senses of joy can be in stillness and silence as our Saviour was born in a quiet place with relatively little fanfare.

The celebration of this day and the lead up to it brings celebration and getting together with family and friends, as of course it should. There is a place for a human element here, after all. Then, there will be the still quietness in which we have a chance to think and consider. That’s where the joy of God and His salvation have a chance to shine through and remind us that we do not truly need to only keep Christmas to just today.

I hope our members, their families and all who read this will have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas and take a moment to contemplate what this day means after the celebrating has died down.

Blessings,

Norm Gallant, Grand Knight
